The Natural Approach to Beautiful Skin

If you want to avoid all of the costly (and scary) beauty treatments out there, turn to these natural approaches to beautiful skin instead. Here are some common facts which have been brought to light by an expert at my ethos spa for skin and body.

Is Skin Cancer Really Caused by the Sun?
You’re often told to avoid skin cancer you should avoid the sun but is this really true? According to research, there are two commonly overlooked causes of skin cancer. These are vitamin D deficiency in chemicals in commercial beauty products.

Vitamin D Deficiency
Vitamin D deficiency is one of the most common vitamin deficiencies in the world, with millions of people suffering from its effects. Studies have shown that moderate exposure to sunlight and/or vitamin D supplementation may actually prevent skin cancer rather than cause it.

Chemicals in Beauty Products
Commercial wrinkles and acne treatments often contain chemicals called alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids. What they don’t tell you on the bottle is these acids are responsible for increasing skin’s susceptibility to UV-induced skin damage and cancer. Industrial plasticizers, called phthalates have also shown to increase the risk of cancer.

Natural Make-Up and Skincare Products
The best way to avoid chemically-induced health problems is to avoid commercial cosmetics. These natural approaches to beautiful skin can have you looking youthful and radiant without any unwanted side effects.

Naturally Beautiful Eyes
For dark under-eye circles, place two warm, steeped caffeinated teabags on your eyes and leave on for 15 minutes. Follow with several cool splashes of water to tighten pores around the eyes. For longer eyelashes, dab lashes with pure vitamin E oil before bedtime. To lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, spread the pure vitamin E oil underneath and around the corners of your eyes.

Naturally Beautiful Skin
Whether your skin is youthful, mature or somewhere in between, you may still struggle with mysterious acne. For natural relief, turn to tea tree oil. Using a cotton swab, dab tea tree oil directly onto the site of the pimple and allow it to absorb into the skin. Be sure the tea tree oil you’re using is diluted with vitamin E oil to avoid burning.

For rough, dry skin, turn to baking soda. It’s the least expensive exfoliant on the market. Simply mix a half teaspoon or so of baking soda with water to make a paste and gently scrub the face in circular motions, taking care to avoid the eye area. Rinse with warm water and follow quickly with cold.

Natural Moisturizers
Instead of chemical-laden lotions, turn to organic coconut oil or olive oil to soothe dry skin. Since both are safe to eat, they’re both much better for your thirsty skin.

Natural Make-Up
The amount of dangerous chemicals in commercially-produced skincare products is staggering. Trade-in your current products for natural mineral make-up. The coverage is the same with no harmful side effects.

Using chemicals on your skin is dangerous for your health. It can lead to a host of health problems, including skin cancer. Change isn’t always easy but once you make the switch to a more natural approach to beautiful skin, you’ll never want to go back.
